With the ruling of the Supreme Court this year some may be asking or wondering if there is still a need to participate in the annual Life Chain.

I will begin by saying, I wish there wasn’t. I’m not saying this because I don’t want to be involved with it. I’m saying this because it would be an answer to my prayers if there would not be another abortion of an unborn child. I would also love it if a ruling could be made that would end all forms of child abuse. I would also say that I would be thrilled if rulings could be made that would end all forms of harm and hurting. But I am not that naïve to think that such could ever occur anytime when it comes to sin.

Sin cannot be controlled by court rulings. This lesson is clearly taught by the Nation of Israel. God gave them His perfect Law that could bless them immensely but they rejected it and the same is true today because morality cannot be legislated. 1 Timothy 1:8-11

In the “Roaring Twenties” did Prohibition stop the manufacturing, selling and transportation of alcohol? The 18th Amendment made it illegal but the law was violated because people wanted to consume alcohol so bootleggers provided it for them. People will always find a way to pursue their sinful desires. Romans 3:19-20

“What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means!” Romans 7:7

Laws, especially God’s  Law help us to know right from wrong. If we didn’t have law we would have chaos and that would open “Pandora’s Box” to unimaginable iniquities. But wait, isn’t that what Eve did when she partook of the forbidden fruit? Genesis 3:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:13-15

No, we do not inherit original sin but it certainly lies in our path because the old serpent is going to do all he can, the best way he can, to cause us to sin. That’s why Peter wrote:  “Be sober minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

This is why we must continue to campaign against sin. Satan doesn’t rest. The deceiver will never stop. This truth is clearly taught when he tempted Jesus. “When the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.” Luke 4:13

This is why we must continue to take part in The Life Chain but we must also make a decisive decision to dwarf all sin. For us to accomplish this we must firmly determine to do something that will make a difference. We must not be passive but we must press on proclaiming the gospel of peace. We must refuse to relax. We must resist the urge to let up. We must share the scriptures and speak out about salvation. We must be transformed by the truth. We must overcome the world by walking according to God’s Word.
